FAFSA
-
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form will be completed by all seniors to apply for financial aid for college or trade school. El formulario de Solicitud Gratuita de Ayuda Federal para Estudiantes (FAFSA) será completado por todos los estudiantes de último año para solicitar ayuda financiera para la universidad o la escuela de oficios.
- Step 1: Create your FSA ID. Both students and parents need to create their own FSA ID by clicking here.
- Step 2: Gather information you will need. This includes your FSA ID, your 2022 tax return for both parents and student (if they have one), your personal information (address, social security number, drivers license number, etc.), records of your assets (checking and savings accounts, etc.) and a list of the schools you want to attend. None of your financial information will be visible to anyone at Kempner nor Fort Bend ISD.
- Step 3: Fill out your FAFSA. Visit the FAFSA website and log in with your student FSA ID and password. Follow the prompts and input your data using the information you gathered in Step 2.
-
Step 4: Submit your verification. Once you've submitted your FAFSA, you'll need to submit verification that it was completed to Ms. Jenkins-Kinney. This is the ONLY way that your graduation requirement will be satisfied. You will need a screen shot of your final FAFSA screen or email confirmation that includes your name, completion date and Data Release Number.

What Is Financial Aid?
-
Financial aid comes from the federal and local government. It is money that helps a student pay for education expenses at a postsecondary school (college, career school, graduate school). Federal aid can cover expenses such as tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, and transportation. Financial aid often comes in the form of both grants (that don't need to be paid back) and loans (which do).Scholarships are another form of financial aid that students can apply for. Scholarships can be based on academic performance, community service, financial need, etc. The application process can be as easy as filling out a form, or can be more lengthy and require an essay or interview.FAFSA The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is for students who are U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens.TASFA The Texas Application for State Financial Aid is for students who are not eligible for the TAFSA but have resided in Texas for at least three years prior to entering college. This aid is only available for students attending Texas schools.Opt-Out This option is for students who are eligible for neither the TASFA or the FAFSA.As part of the 2025 graduation requirement, all Texas high school students must complete a FAFSA, TASFA or an opt-out form by TBA and provide verification to Mrs. Hines in order to receive their diplomas.
