Sugar Land Middle School History

Sugar Land Junior High first opened its doors in the fall of 1975. In the 1990s, the name changed to Sugar Land Middle School. Every year, we continue to celebrate molding 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students, preparing them for futures beyond what they can imagine. Over the years, Sugar Land students have won many district championships while competing in football, basketball, volleyball, track, and tennis. Our students have excelled in the fine arts, placing in All-District/All-Region band, choir, and orchestra. Our theater, and visual arts programs consistently earn high marks at competitions, as well.Band, Choir, and Orchestra ensembles consistently earn top ratings at UIL Concert and Sightreading Contests. As well as extracurricular pursuits, the 66 teachers of Sugar Land strive for excellence in the classroom. With an average of 13 years teaching experience, they are familiar with what it takes to prepare students for high school and post secondary education.
