Welcome Back Chargers!
Welcome Back Chargers!
I hope your families had a terrific summer and are ready to start an exciting new school year! Our Chargers staff have been working hard to prepare to welcome your children back to school this Thursday.
To ensure quality communication from the school, we will email an ACHS Parent Newsletter on Sundays at 5:30 pm. This important source of information will include the week’s events, upcoming events, and links to information. If you are having trouble receiving our emails, here are a few ways for you to troubleshoot: check your spam folder and email settings to allow emails from Almeta Crawford High School at massnotificationsystem@fortbendisd.com. Our website is also a valuable tool.
On it, you will find our campus calendar as well as general campus information at www.fortbendisd.com/ACHS. Follow us on X (formerly Twitter) @achs_chargers and Instagram @ACHSChargers for spirit day challenges, reminders, and highlights. One of the feedback points on the district climate survey is that parents would like to receive text messages. Please click here to edit your information in the Blackboard Messaging system where you can opt in to text messages if you choose.
The new bell schedule is included at the end of this letter. Remember that 1st period begins at 7:30 am and 7th period dismisses at 2:50 pm (added five minutes this year). The building opens each day for students at 6:50 am, and students not participating in after school activities must be picked up by 3:05 pm each day. Please take a moment during the first few days/weeks of school to review the content of the district Parent/Student Handbook with your child, including the district dress code. Please help us by encouraging your child to wear clothing that is school appropriate.
**Please note, students cannot wear hats, hoodies, bonnets, durags, or any head gear in the building; nor can they wear cropped shirts that bare the midriff.
Please utilize the front circle drive for morning drop off. A map is included below to assist you. We appreciate your support in helping us with our traffic flow and student safety.
As of today, families are able to view student schedules in Skyward Family Access if the online enrollment verification has been completed. In a school of more than 1000 students (and growing), please remember we simply cannot customize a schedule. Student schedules are created automatically by the Skyward system based upon your child’s course selections and their alternate selections. A schedule change request form will be available using QR Codes posted throughout the building, until August 10th. Not all requests can or will be honored. Changes are based on course availability, class enrollment, and student scheduling needs. If there is an issue with your request, your child’s counselor will reach out to you.
All students (new and returning) are required to stay up to date by receiving the necessary vaccinations in order to enroll or start school. Additionally, students who are on a Dual Residency or Power of Attorney MUST have updated paperwork to receive a schedule. Students cannot receive a schedule, go to class, or remain on campus without the necessary vaccinations and paperwork. Please click here for a list of immunization providers.
Please mark your calendars for these upcoming events and visit our website for more:
- First Day of School- Thursday, August 8th. Students will report to designated areas in the building then go to 1st period as directed.
- Student Device Distribution- Thursday/Friday August 15th and 16th (SS Classes)
- Open House- Tuesday, August 27th, 6:00 – 8:00 PM at ACHS
We can’t wait to see your children on Thursday. It will be an awesome first day of school for all. Two important things to remember: on Thursdays we wear TEAL, and Chargers are #ChargedUpWithExcellence!
Sincerely,
Dr. Amber Grady
ACHS Proud Principal
